Free fountain and light spectacle
Some of the most iconic Vegas moments are free: choreographed fountain shows timed to music outside major resorts, and elaborate lobby and ceiling displays designed purely to be photographed. These run on a schedule and draw crowds, so arrive a little early for a good viewing spot.
Observation decks and skyline views
Several Strip towers offer paid observation decks with genuine skyline views over the whole valley — worth timing around sunset, when the desert light and the Strip's neon overlap for a short window.
The Neon Museum and old Vegas signage
Downtown, a museum dedicated to preserving retired Vegas neon signage tells the history of the city through its own discarded marquees — a genuinely different way to see the city's design history than anything on the modern Strip.
Just walking the Strip after dark
Don't discount simply walking Las Vegas Boulevard after sunset with no fixed destination — the scale and density of neon and architecture along a few miles of street is, on its own, one of the most Vegas things you can do.
